X-FILES SEASON 6 COLLECTION

Synopsis

THE X-FILES, winner of the 1995 and 1997 Golden Globe Award for Best Drama Series, recipient of the prestigious Peabody Award recognizing excellence in broadcasting, and a four-time Emmy Award nominee for Outstanding Drama Series, returns for its sixth season following the box-office success of the first feature film based the series. Created and executive produced by Chris Carter, THE X-FILES chronicles the lives of Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson), two disparate FBI agents who were originally assigned to investigate the bureau's unsolved cases, known as the X-Files -- many of which suggest paranormal involvement. Mulder, who maintains that as a young boy he witnessed his sister's abduction by aliens, is the believer, steadfast in his determination that there exists an entire world which simply cannot be explained by rational thought, a world rife with alien beings, government conspirators, and human anomalies. Scully, a medical doctor by training, remains the rock-solid skeptic, equally determined to prove that science can explain even that which appears to be without explanation. Nothing, not even her own possible alien abduction, has shaken the foundations of her faith. Celebrated by critics in the US since its premiere and a consistent ratings winner on the FOX network, THE X-FILES has also become an international phenomenon. THE X-FILES has been equally embraced by the emerging cyberculture. Every week, tens of thousands of self-proclaimed X-Philes surf the net to dissect and critique every iota of information from the previous week's episodes, from plotlines to Gillian Anderson's hair color. And with them each week is Chris Carter -- an admitted cyberspace junkie -- who logs onto the Internet to keep appraised of the latest word on the show. However, it's all in a day's work for Carter, for whom the Internet in a general sense, definitely makes a difference in the decisions I make about where the show is headed. THE X-FILES is produced by Twentieth Century Fox Television in association with Ten Thirteen Productions.
